We are so excited to release the first item in our DIY Collection: Hand Dyed Cormo X Roving.
This Shabby Alpaca Exclusive Hand Dyed Cormo X Wool Roving is from USA sheep and perfect for your spinning, felting, and other creative projects.
We small batch hand dye this roving with Cushings Dye. Chris G is the dyer in this duo and it’s one of her favorite things to do. She doesn’t dye often because she has an actual job and she’s usually busy doing all the things… But she does love dyeing and if I can say so, she does an amazing job.
Here’s a little note from Chris G: Every batch of hand dyed roving is completely one of a kind. None of the colorways available can be repeated. When you look at the photos of the roving and see white and lighter colors, in some cases during the dying process, the colors broke and created a beautiful multi color product. All dye is colorfast. This roving is unique because it is very fine. You will find that there are neps from the mill roving process. There is also small amounts of vegetation which do not make this ideal for spinning projects.
We know you have a million ideas of your own, but here are some ways that you can use our hand dyed roving :
- Supplement your existing fiber supply with new fun one-of-a-kind colors
- Expand your library of color and texture without having to make a large investment
- Embellish your needle or wet felting endeavors
- All dry and wet felting projects
- Spinning (not recommended)
- DIY decorating (See below for ideas!)
Here at Shabby our favorite use for this beautiful roving is with needle felting to decorate our color dryer balls.
We’re recommending the best use is for felting, but I’ve seen some AMAZING weaving projects that this would be great for!
Here at Shabby, we love to encourage your creativity! We believe we were made to create, so whatever it is: writing, felting, drawing, building- don’t stop and if your projects don’t turn out exactly as you hoped, have a laugh or a good cry and keep going. Just Don’t Stop Creating!
